They started this project about a year ago and their goal is to keep mixtapes alive and show they will never die. In a day and age where the internet and downloading music are ruling the world. They want to remind people how dope mixtapes were and still are. So their goal is to work with artists and producers and record labels in having people submit music to them so they can create mixtapes and distribute them through out the world for free! Keeping the mixtapes alive and using them as a promotional tool for new artists and producers to showcase their music. Since they started this project they’ve released Mixtapes Do Exist Project Vol.1 which featured over 30 artists on the mixtape and got postitive reviews. Since then, they’ve done side projects promoting various MC’s and producers albums. They hope to generate more buzz about this project, through the blog. If you’re an unsigned or signed artist looking for a different way for your music to get heard. The Mars Volta is a progressive rock group formed in 2001 by guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López and vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala. They incorporate various influences including punk rock, jazz fusion, funk and Latin/Salsa into their progressive rock sound. They are known for their energetic and improvisational live shows, as well as their concept-based studio albums. They were named rock music’s “Best Prog-Rock Band” by Rolling Stone magazine in 2008. In December 2008, their song “Wax Simulacra,” from their the album The Bedlam in Goliath, was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Hard Rock Performance category.
