Blackout is the fifth studio album by American pop singer Britney Spears. It was released on October 29, 2007 in the U.K. and October 30, 2007 in the U.S., and around the world. It is her first studio album of new material since In the Zone in 2003. The album has been generally well-received by most of the media outlets that have reviewed it. Times Online was the first to review the album, giving it a 4 out of 5 star rating.. Entertainment Weekly gave the album a B+ rating and praised the album as “a perfectly serviceable dance album abundant in the kind of bouncy electro elements that buttressed her hottest hits.” Billboard Magazine is quoted saying, “This is still pop, but the last bits of Spears’ song-and-dance girl veneer are cracking, along with the rest of her public persona.” Nekesa Mumbi Moody of The Associated Press wrote, “It’s her best work ever.” Pop Justice also praised the album calling it “modern sounding, and brilliantly produced.” Metro.co.uk called Blackout a “nightlife stormer”, with “pacing electro beats, lusty hi-NRG rhythms, nonchalant delivery and hidden strengths”. However they went on to say that it wasn’t unique - “Heaven On Earth sounds like Kylie, while The Neptunes‘ contribution, Why Should I Be Sad, bears their usual slinky trademarks.” On the other hand, a review by the New York Daily News was less than favorable, noting that the overwhelming presence of “studio trickery” had the effect of making her sound like a “Brit Bot”. “If a blow-up sex doll could sing, this is what she’d sound like,” wrote critic Jim Farber. “In terms of studio trickery, Paris Hilton’s album was practically ‘unplugged’ compared to this.” Pete Paphides wrote, “Certain songs wouldn’t have sounded too different if her vocal were totally erased”.

Eh, again; do we really care?! The only reason this was posted was because I heard Jagger mention it on the radio. If it wasn’t for him I would of never known about Britney dropping her new album. People are giving it 4 out of 5 stars and saying this album is going to be one of her biggest. I seriously doubt it…the only song that looks worth listening is the one with Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes. Eh, I’ll cop this cd if I can find the bootleg for $2
Comment by Grafwurks October 30, 2007 @ 6:38 amSame here, I heard it from Russ and it was mainly cause of his whore reference, other than that, I believe she should have her crack babies taken from her. BUT i will take a peek at her artwork on there, I here it’s questionable, has some sacreligious thing on it…
